What Does Eco-Friendly Mean?

We aim to feature products, materials, places and ideas that are environmentally friendly, sustainable and fair trade wherever possible.  There are many different things that can make a product eco-friendly. Most products are likely great in some areas but may not be so great in others.

We know that not everything you see on this site will meet all of the important criteria but do hope that as the movement to protect the Earth and its inhabitants grows, most products available will be as eco-friendly as possible and sites like this one will no longer be unique or even necessary.

We suggest you look at a range of factors when choosing what products to buy, and always consider not buying the product at all if it's not something you need and/or love. 

Some things to consider when looking at eco-friendly products can include:

  • Do I love it?
  • Do I really need it?
  • What is the product made of?
  • How is it made? 
  • Who makes it?  Is it made in fair working conditions for a living wage?
  • How far do the materials and end-products have to travel to get to you?
  • How long it will last?
  • Can it be reused or recycled when it's no longer useful to you?
  • How is the product disposed of?
  • How much does it cost?

 

What is Our Relationship to the Products We Feature?

We feature products and ideas we like and think this community will enjoy.  In some cases we may have an affiliate relationship with companies that will pay us a commission if you buy something from them.  In other cases you will see products being advertised on our site.  In many cases we're simply featuring what we think is cool, just because we want to!
